Federal-Empire is a neo-classical style from 1780 to 1850 a reinterpretation of classical architecture from Roman domestic buildings.  Elements include following dots, beads, ribbons, swirls, egg & dart, leaves, Greek Key designs, fan patterns often in an ellipse and ornamentation with rosettes. For a fun look, paint the rings a different color than the bulk of the medallion.
